Nostalgic Fighting Game: Street Fighter Then And Now

Street Fighter is one of the most popular fighting games in the world. It's a classic arcade game that pits two fighters against each other in a no-holds-barred fight for supremacy, well maybe not no-holds-barred since we have HP on both fighters. The first version of Street Fighter is limited to Ken, Ryu, Chun-Li, Blanka, Guile, Dhalsim and around 4 more characters . Each one offers unique attacks that make each style ideal for different play styles. Street Fighter is one of the most unique games ever made. It's a timeless classic loved by gamers and non-gamers alike.

The original Street Fighter gameplay was based on hand-to-hand combat and featured close combat fighting techniques. They could also throw their opponents across the screen or ground them beneath their feet to finish them off. A part of the strategy in this game is knowing when to run and when to fight. Players have to have both skill sets at their disposal to win matches against even the toughest opponents.

The roster of today’s Street Fighter has greatly increased giving the players enough to choose from. Even though it looks like you're just punching and kicking, and throwing fireballs there's actually a lot of strategy involved in each attack you make in Street Fighter games. You have to stay focused and basically attack when necessary. It is a game of timing and wit to outsmart your opponent and seize the opportunity when your opponent lets down his guard. Following these tips will make sure that you have as much fun as possible while playing Street Fighter!

Street Fighter II Was Released In 1991

The initial reaction to the arcade version of Street Fighter was that the game was good, but not great. Over the next few years, it will be ported to other consoles, including cheaper versions of the PC engine. But then came Street Fighter II in 1991.

The arcade version of Street Fighter II won Best Game at Gamest Magazine's 5th Annual Awards in 1991, which also won Best Action Game Genre (a fighting game award has yet to be determined). Street Fighter II took first place in Best VGM, Best Director and Best Album, and took second place for Best Graphics in the 3Dnamco System 21 game Starblade. All characters except M. Bison (known internationally as Balrog) are on the Best Characters list of 1991.

The Game Boy version of Street Fighter II was released in Japan on August 11, 1995 and internationally on September 1995. Dhalsim, E. Honda and Vega are missing. Graphics, character portraits, and sets are all based on Super Street Fighter II, although some action (like Blanka's Amazon River Run) is included in Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Since the Game Boy has only two buttons, the force of the punches and kicks depends on the duration of the button presses.

Street Fighter Remained Popular Through The Years

Street Fighter II is iconic for a reason, everything from music to artistic expression and everything in between, it still grabs players' attention no matter what era of video games they were born in. At this stage, Street Fighter V dominates the fighting scene, but even in the face of a next-gen sequel, Street Fighter II remains a subversive benchmark that any player can enjoy. The accessibility and hidden depth of Street Fighter II is something Capcom has had to replicate through its numerous sequels and releases over the years.

In the 30 years since, my love for Street Fighter 2 has never ceased. Each new version presents new possibilities, new mechanics, new brilliance. While my glory days are over and my memories of summers spent researching frame stats and practicing combos are now hazy, I can still pick up a controller and use Sonic Boom with muscle memory alone .

I remember playing this in the arcade as a kid. I still love it to this day. I mean Street Fighter II was a great fighting game and still is. The first Street Fighter was a bit cheap. But Street Fighter II is fun and the graphics are great.
