Who Is That One-Eye Tentacled Creature Doing In The Middle Of The City?

The second installment of our favorite Doctor, Doctor Strange, is closing really soon! Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness will be in cinemas May 4, 2022. From the trailer itself there are a lot more questions than excitement. Marvel Studios did not fail to hype the fans again! However if you just got hooked recently with all of the Phases that the Marvel Entertainment Universe has and did not read any comics yet, you will ask who is that one-eye tentacles doing in the film?

We are on All Marvel All Month here in our blog and if you haven’t checked out the other articles from the blog do check out our homepage with All Marvel All Month blog posts and reviews about your favorite Marvel Games! For this post we will profile Shuma Gorath or Gargantos.

Sometimes Marvel Studios’ trailers are not what they seem to be. They purposely put the hype on the way they create their trailers. In the trailer you will see a blinking or glitching person coming in and out and there is this one-eyed tentacled thing in the middle of the city. As you probably know this is well known as Shuma-Gorath however, due to some rights issues they renamed it as Gargantos.

What Is This Gargantos?

It is an ancient deity, which is somewhat affiliated with Many-Angled Ones. In short, Gargantos is very old with an OG called Many-Angled Ones, I am not sure if they are geometry geniuses or whatever but that’s what they are called.

This thing is indestructible basically. His power is completely beyond human understanding and I can not even imagine how Doctor Strange will actually beat this thing.

It has Godlike abilities, telepathy and can travel in different dimensions which it aims to conquer. Its favorite snack is humans, so be very careful, if you see this on the streets do not engage! I repeat do not engage!

Though if you already played Marvel Superheroes, the fighting game, its name there is Shuma-Gorath. He is a pretty capable foe there. He also appeared in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.

The Gargantos name however appeared in some comics of The Sub-mariner. Gargantos is a sea monster basically and we don’t know if the Gargantos will appear as a Sea Monster as well in the Multiverse of madness or if its main role is somewhat aligned to the Shuma-Gorath character.

For whatever it is worth, I can not wait for this movie to be released and see it for myself. Whatever happened to that name rights issue, let’s just go with it and I guess it will not affect the movie’s success, we are already too invested to be confused with the names. We know what we know and MEU is pretty successful rewriting what is in the comics and making a live action version of it.
