There Is One Darkhold Left In The MCU

Even if we already have Thor Love and Thunder in theaters globally there are still some easter eggs found around Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness. If you haven’t seen the movie yet this post contains spoilers (Come on man! Really).

If this is your first time here you can subscribe here for your MCU, Anime, and Gaming updates.

We are one hell of a party around here.

Usually an easter egg could lead to another character that can possibly appear eventually in the future. Like for the one we talked about Doctor Doom, that simple entrance of Mister Fantastic could be a clue of Doctor Doom appearing in MCU. We already know that we will have a Fantastic Four but of course it is MCU, we have no idea who will be their nemesis on their debut. Hence, to the Doom Easter egg, now, this “Easter egg” is somewhat the direction of the Doctor Strange franchise might be. The fan theory would take us way back to the first Doctor Strange movie. This is about books and how Doctor Strange learns those books and its connection to the Darkhold.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, the next paragraphs you will read contains spoilers. I already gave you a fair warning, but if you have already seen it read on.

First, the Darkhold,  or The Book of The Damned or The Book of The Sins, was first heard in the last episodes of Wandavision. It fell to the hands of Wanda after beating Agatha Harkness, as you can see Agatha was no longer in her normal state when she fought Wanda. Wanda came the victor and as we all know already from Doctor Strange, Wanda has the Darkhold.

Darkhold was a transcription of Dark Magic that Elder God Cthton accumulated through time. The most powerful Dark Magics ever known by Elder God Cthton, compiled on an indestructible parchment. Indestructible parchment? Don’t you have a self-destruct button somewhere in the book? If you have a kind of book like that and fall into the wrong hands, you should have a self-destruct button for an indestructible parchment.

The influence of the Darkhold has taken over Wanda as we know from the movie when Doctor Strange met Wanda. The surroundings suddenly became red and that is where Doctor Strange got an idea that Wanda needs America Chavez to go to the Multiverse and claim Wanda’s kids. Which only means the Wanda from the current universe claims the kids from the other universe.

The movie branched out between Doctor Strange and Wanda. Wanda found a spell to dreamwalk through other dimensions and Doctor Strange was dealing with Illuminati. The Darkhold book was destroyed with the help of Kamar-taj’s sorcerer and the spell was broken. Frustrated, Wanda together with Wong, went to the Wundagore Mountain where the actual spells were originally transcribed to its walls, to continue to dreamwalk to other dimensions. Through the dreamwalk found Strange and Chavez, being held by Illuminati. Wanda was able to get through the Ultrons, not Doombots, and through the Illuminati by wiping them all out. Trying to get the Book of Vishanti, Strange and Wanda fight, by the powers of America, Strange and Christine were ported out into another Dimension. Doctor Strange of Earth 616 found another Strange that is protecting another Darkhold book. Now with the Darkhold, Strange performs a Dreamwalk with his dead counterpart. In the end Wanda realized something and eventually decided to “destroy” all of the Darkholds including the Dark Spells that were carved into the walls of Wundagore Mountain. Back to his normal self, Doctor Strange and Christine watched the burning Darkhold book.

With all that trouble and speculation that there is no more Darkhold, there is one Darkhold left. Remember how Doctor Strange learned about the spells in the private collection of Wong? How did he know how to use the Eye of Agamotto? Doctor Strange mentions in his 2016 film that he has photographic memory. Now we have all of the Dark Magic in Doctor Strange’s head. That is why in the end when Doctor Strange is walking in the street suddenly he gets a headache and a third eye appears in his forehead, confirming that he is now the Darkhold. What is the impact of that in the whole MCU? Everything, if only Doctor Strange was able to open The Book of The Vishanti, he could go over that book easily on how to beat Wanda without resorting to getting the Darkhold. The Darkhold could take over Strange and that can be a link to Wanda that could manipulate him in some way. Or is it Wanda already calling the Darkhold from Doctor Strange’s head.

Remember that the image in Wundagore Mountain was the Scarlet Witch, it could connect the mind of Wanda and Strange. Now that the Darkhold is with Strange, if Wanda would be able to mind control Strange, what catastrophe would have been. In the comics it was not Wanda that mind controlling Strange but rather Ebony Maw. Since this is MCU we can only speculate a lot however it can be done.

With the Multiverse now open wide in the MCU how many worlds are there to be explored. The space is already covered by Guardians of The Galaxy. The 9 Realms is with Thor, I am just not sure with their newest movie if Thor would still have control of the 9 Realms. However in the Multiverse it is covered now by America Chavez and Doctor Strange. With the Fantastic Four coming up next, which of the realms for these First Family? One thing is for sure, there are a lot of open ends in the Multiverse of Madness, hope it can be answered soon in the next movies.
