What I Like About Valkyrie Profile And Where Are Those Games Now?

A lot of RPG mobile games are so easy to let go. Though there are few gems around the free to play games, they are really engaging and have this unique style of reviving an old mechanic in the game. Genshin Impact is very popular, Marvel Future Fight is still kicking and it is currently celebrating their 7th year anniversary, Epic Seven is still relevant and many more. I already have a written review about Valkyrie Profile and this post is still about Valkyrie Profile, our feature game in our Retro Gaming Event All Month. One of the characteristics of this game is that the story is actually engaging. Not to mention the relevance that is based on the Norse Mythology.

If you think Norse Mythology or any mythology are boring, think again. There are a ton of games, not to mention these games are very popular games, that are based on Mythology. God of War, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed and several strategy games that all these mythological civilizations go to war. Valkyrie Profile a native Playstation 1 title, was not a difference. Ragnarok is near so Odin called her Valkyrie to gather soldiers for Ragnarok. Soldiers he means souls of mortals that are ready to go to war.

The video in this post was the Prologue of the game, if you are in the Splash screen just let it be idle for a while and it will play by itself. If you already read the review on Valkyrie Profile,  then you probably can relate to the name that I mentioned. Go through the post again and you can go back here. If you want to check it later, read on.

It is pretty tragic if you get to the part where they went to a field full of Weeping Lilies. You know why it was called the Weeping Lilies. Then let’s move on to the story plot.

I know most of you already played this game on Playstation 1 but if up to this point still not, spoilers alert. In the beginning of the story we get to see Odin and Freya joining you a little bit and the first story that you will begin with is with your two new recruits. Arngrim and Jelanda are the first two you will have in your party. With Freya still on your side, guiding you on how the game actually played. She will actually teach you how to save and equip and anything you need to know all throughout the game.

Each party member that you will have, will have a backstory on how they live and on how they actually agree to go with you in your crusade. I mean that is the story that is very well thought of, even the way your party members will join you, has a story.

Arngrim, the guy with the big claymore, has a pretty sad back story. He is a mercenary, a hired fighter that has a disabled brother. He is basically the breadwinner of the family. Jelanda on the other hand is on the other side of the society, because she is basically a Princess. You can actually watch the video just so you know what happened. Their stories are intertwined, Arngrim dies and Jelanda is practically killed.

You, Freya, Arngrim and Jelanda that would be your initial party until Freya will leave you in replace of your new party member. As you go on there are a lot of places that you will go and a lot of members that you will meet. There is a knight, a samurai, and a sinner even. Everyone is welcome to your party.

The stories of your party members is the one that really makes up the whole player engagement. Sometimes it is dramatic but most of the time it is really educational. A lot of people thought of games as bad, but sometimes the writer of these games really makes sense.

We need these kind of story rich games that would inspire you in your life.
