I Am Not Crying, You Are Crying Over Violet Evergarden
Have you picked an anime at random and you picked the wrong Anime? Then it is too late for you to bail because it is too beautiful and left unfinished. Sometimes I really watch anime without any information about it. I didn't even know that Violet Evergarden is a drama.
This is an anime series review on Violet Evergarden.
He is like a female Captain America, a soldier that seeks its purpose in life, integrating herself to the society and finding the meaning of the words “I love you”. Though Captain America was literally lost in time since he came from the ice, The only blocking Violet Evergarden finding purpose came from the training she had. She was used as a tool of war, to be able to survive her feelings were hidden or we can call it “hardened” as she just kills. After the war she was brought to a mansion where she lived, but Violet was concerned about the Major. The Major is the one that took care of Violet Evergarden when she was found and handed over by the Major’s brother.
The anime is not so dramatic at first, a few jokes here and there and some flashbacks. The flashbacks can be heavy at times but it was not that emphasized. The continuity towards the exciting part gets lightened at some parts. You will not realize that you already sucked into the story.
You will not realize that the story is creeping into your system. The format basically is like a normal episodic anime that features different stories of the people that Violet meets. The story of Violet
Evergarden were just moments in an episode, the entirety of the episode is based on the people around Violet. The only stories about Violet Evergarden in each episode are merely flashbacks and you will not really understand what is happening. You know basically that Violet was a War Tool for Major Gilbert, but you will not get the essence of it at first until you understand what is Violet’s relationship to Major Gilbert. You will not understand clearly at first because you don’t know how a person without emotions.
Violet Evergarden does not tickle your heart, it challenges it. Who among you knows how a person feels or reacts if he or she has no emotions? Or how can you explain sadness to a person who does not know the meaning of it. You can explain it but the person should felt it to be able to understand. As the viewer, you eventually want to decipher what Violet Evergarden would do, or you will simulate in your head how she can possibly not know sadness? As I simulate it in my head on how I can understand this person, I am validating what is happening in the anime in my head. Then what I was simulating eventually was the story of the person in one of the episodes.
That’s what happened on the famous Episode 10 of Violet Evergarden. The crying starts in the end, Violet is crying already but she doesn't know what she feels. She can only relate because someone is losing a very important person in her life. I try to simulate the situation in my head how Violet wrote those letters for someone that is going away. If I say a little more I will already spoil you.
