Summoner's War: Lost Centuria - The Lost Review Since Global Launch

If you are looking for a brand new game that has a unique play style, Lost Centuria could be the one you’ve been waiting for. This game was launched in April of 2021 and they gained momentum exactly on the day of their launch as they hit 1 million downloads.

Including me I got excited about the fact that the game has a fresh idea on turn based games. No cheesy storyline content, it is straight to the point PVP action.

Summoners War: Lost Centuria is a turn-based real-time strategy game. Turn-based because you will be controlling a party of 6, and depending on their mana requirement you can use their special abilities within the battle. It is similar to Clash Royale but without an actual base to destroy, you just need to obliterate all the members of the opposing party.

Easy it may seem but the strategy lies on the characters you pick. It can be all in your party is a damage for faster clears? However, watch out to some spells as well that can bind you and you can not do your special attacks.

When the game first launched I was a bit skeptical on how boring the game would be? I guess I was revisiting an old concept for a game,  but I am unsure if I would accept the idea. There are a lot of turn based games already that the concept is beginning to be common already. The problem with some games, they are stuck to a stationary concept of a turn-based system. The party is on the other side, enemy to the other, characters will be in a certain rotation to make their attacks. Though having a mana counter in a game is also not so new, what makes The Summoner’s War: Lost Centuria different from the others.

Summoners War: Lost Centuria, you will technically build your characters. The character build will be based on the runes you will put on the character. Though some players do not recommend putting runes early on in the game. The only problem with this kind of character build is that you basically have limited slots. And you only got 5, those are the only slots you got.

Playability, it is easy to work with. Easy to learn, the tactics will lie on the combination of characters you have in your squad. Also, timing is very critical, the game has a counter system where you can interrupt the caster to execute your counter, however it would depend on who among the skill will target. So your character on the back row executes their  AOE skill and you want to counter it, however the skill only targets the characters on the front row. The counter on that scenario is not that effective, however if the scenario is that the back row character executes an AOE skill, and then your healer has a chance to counter, the healer can execute the healing skill, then heals your character that has the lowest HP. The counter is effective there as the character with the lowest HP has a chance to survive on the enemy’s attack.

When I first played the game the retention or my retention to really play the game is not that long compared to others that I’ve played. Since this is really not a game that really has a storyline, my engagement to the game is not that good. I can not invest a lot of time into this game as there is really no activity where you will put an effort to stay long hours just to configure characters or do missions. It is all a PVP game, I think the developers are trying to make a somewhat MOBA game but failed in the engagement department.

Unlike in the MOBA game there is action that you need to control the characters unlike here in Lost Centuria, all you need is to set up the party and you will be on your way, which is a bad decision. The game itself is already too simple which is not bad, however it should be infused with engaging content. Unlike MOBA games you need to practice the game play of the character according to where the character is built and advantage. The problem is that the mechanics are too simple already without engaging mechanics where the player will practice its skills and style until he or she masters the character. This is not close to the thrill of the current MOBA trend.
