Marvel Future Fight: The Boycott Over A Premium System
Marvel Future Fight is really an amazing game to start with, I must say that they are generous for newer players. Have you ever see a game that really prepares a Livestream for the players for the new release. Instead of games that you will be just prompted by new characters and new systems that will be introduced in the game.
Marvel Future Fight has 3 - 5 sneak peeks for a single update and it has a scheduled Livestream so players can see firsthand the new characters and uniforms. Creating hype around a single update.
Netmarble the developer of this game, has really put the effort in every release, however, I think they lost their touch on the recent Symbiote update.
From my review back in the WordPress blog, aside from the first look of the star-creators, no one has ever talked about the biometrics of Knull to be farmable in the World Boss Legend. As of now they just talked about how insanely hard the stage is and how worst the rewards are.
The Insane Card System
If you are a free-to-play player you probably have some premium cards that came from Legendary Battle, besides do you have any? The reaction of a player if he or she receives a Premium Comic Cards is that he would immediately equip those the second the player gets a hand on that Premium Comic Card. The new system would enormously bump up your stats in a price of a few Premium Comic Card. If you are a zero to low spender player it would take you forever to farm Premium Comic Card.
Maybe the Star-Creators would focus on the system, not on the ways the game would allow you to buy Premium Comic Cards but as the system goes live the game devs did not disclose the system not until the Star-Creators reveal it on the testing server. Which really disappoints a lot of players.
The game allows players to farm Premium Comic Cards. You can farm daily Premium Comic Card Tokens in GBR. For new players that would unlock not until you have at least Tier-2 characters. As per experience, it is hard to join the Giant Boss Raid at that level. Sure there will be a chance for a new player with a few Tier-2s, sure, but it is still in the hands of the RNG (random number generator or “chance”) on how many tokens you can have for that round. It will be hard if you are just a new player with zero spendings to farm or buy Premium Comic Cards in the hope that you can beat Knull.
Wait There’s More
Besides the Premium Comic Cards system, there is this CTP system and you guessed it right, you need to sacrifice another CTP which for a free-to-play player you will only get that CTP for free in the Check-in reward event wherein on the 28th day you will get a CTP chest.
The fact that you will need to sacrifice several CTPs or Premium Comic Cards to get a stat that is still random really pisses the MFF community. For the so-called whales is to invest more real money to satisfy the requirement of the new system and for the low spender players is that another wall that they need to break just to get that insane stats.
For Free-To-Play players like me, you will wait for that long just to satisfy the requirement of the new system.
I get used to player journeys like what I did from the last blog that I document for how many days we can unlock the Awakening of a certain character and How long we can Tier-3 a certain character. This journey just to use the new system is absolutely insane. It will take you years to really reach that first bump on your stat.

Here is my take on this I think this could work if Netmarble updates the game gradually like a roadmap. Instead of 28 days, we need to wait for a new CTP, at least every 2 weeks. The end of the first week is Odin’s Blessing then on the second week a CTP and then a Premium Comic Card, then a CTP. The chest is a random CTP anyways and the current system only allows selected CTPs to be “Forged”. At least if they started it giving those from the Black Widow update, the outrage might be as light.
Another option that I can think of is players will be allowed to create a random CTP from 10 or 20 Superior Obelisk. The cost may be insane for 20 Superior Obelisk but what does it cost, only Gold. Same as with Premium Comic Cards, they should introduce a crafting system to create a Premium Comic Card. The result is random anyway but still, the cost is only Gold. Let’s say in a week there is a Mythic Comic Card requirement to increase your chance to have a Premium Comic Card. This system is similar to the Uru system in that if it failed you will just get 1 Uru back of the same grade.
Both are still completely dependent on the RNG. You could get Premium Comic Card but if not you could get back 1 Mythic Comic Card but at least the cost is just not as high.
Then if everyone is settled in either of the 2 systems and everyone already has Premium Comic Card then let’s introduce this system but the impact or reaction will not be that outrageous because I can say as a free to play the player “hey I’ve collected a lot of Premium Cards already and I only have 5 slots my Cards will just rot, what should I do?”. For new players, they will not be overwhelmed rather they will be excited to collect and craft. With this in the current situation, the Devs or whoever thought about this successfully removed the fun out of the game.
Then again we can only just hope for the better. We can no longer turn back time to redo all over again. I think Marvel Future Fight is still a great game but with this system, the majority of players have no capability to develop their characters with these premium requirements. For me, the Knull stage is still just an empty slot I can not play it with that kind of requirement. I guess I will just wait for another new content that is Free-to-play friendly.
In the next post, I will post about my current roster and who will be my main character at this point. Since I can not review all of them in every release I will develop the main character and then onto the next.
