Zero's Tea Time Left Me Hanging For Quite A While
Do you still remember Detective Conan? Well I almost forgot about Conan but I will never forget “Sleeping” Kogoro. He is a fun guy, a puppet like everyone else around here.
*awkward silence*
There is a spin-off of this Detective Conan series but I would not really call it a spin off because he is totally different. His name is Furuya Rei, or at least his name that was called by his mother during the backstory scenes in the series. Though it was a fun series to begin with, he is like Batman to be honest. He just left the scene with a cool breeze. Though I was expecting that the series will be more of a Detective Conan-like rather than a snapshot of Furuya’s secret identity.
Yes, it is me to blame. I was not paying attention to be honest. Zero’s Tea Time series is a slice of life. How Furuya would juggle his career as a police officer, the cafe, and his internship at Kogoro Mouri. Though it was shown there his skill as a crime fighter and his soft spots about dogs.
I guess this series is just to challenge us with intrigue if we would be watching another “Detective” series. I got curious to be honest on how good Furuya is. He is amazing. He is agile, he is smart, and very observant. His attentiveness to detail really satisfied a customer early on the series. He is very thoughtful and honest for a guy. I doubted him for a second there when he brought a full meal for Yuya, his partner. Is he gay? Though there is a real reason in the series to be worried about his partner but not to the point I will bring him lunch, rather my coworker at the cafe that brought me to meet his family and all. Not sure, I am really doubting his preference now.
Zero’s Tea Time is a slice of life series about Furuya Rei, a police officer that wears a lot of masks. This series gives you a snapshot of his daily routine and how he uses his wit and skills in everyday life. Though I am really curious about some other parts of the series that I am wanting to have Detective Conan themed like of a series. The whole series is intertwined with the rest of the episodes unlike with Detective Conan, the series has a main goal but the reset of the episodes more or less has its own story.
Zero’s Tea Time got my attention that I was expecting to have at least a revelation about the other masks he wears. Though it failed in that department, the whole series is enjoyable and very wholesome. I like the character of his co-worker at the cafe because I think she is interested in Rei, though Rei is just ignoring her and just considers her as a cover. He is just a barista at the Coffee Shop.
I would hope there is more to this series. Don’t get me wrong, the series is already good. I think it would be a waste without a second series. A quick follow through on the “slice-of-life” theme however on the next season would be a small revelation of what he really does and what he is really good at. I will be interested to see Detective Conan there or Mouri. It is indeed a decent series. It stays to the theme to the very end which is not bad. It just excites more! I know that there is more.
