My Account Was Hacked - Tips To Protect Your Account From Hacking

After a while I am going back to playing MOBA with my kids. I guess they enjoyed competing at this age but I’ve always reminded them, do not forget to enjoy. It's been awhile since I opened my account in Mobile Legends, I did not even blog about anymore. The exciting part of the comeback is that I did not realize how many heroes are there already in this game and I still use the same old “core” heroes.

After a year I guess that I did not play Mobile Legends, the game feels much better I guess. There is really some comparison on League of Legends: Wild Rift and Mobile Legends, the controls are more agile than LOL. I am definitely awed by the graphics of League of Legends but I think they still need to work on the controls. Mobile Legends controls are more PC like than mobile. It seems there is no competition anymore to where the players are nowadays. Though I wonder if there are ESports sites that do not seem to support Mobile Legends? How is that or maybe since I am in the Philippines that most of the players are really more at ease with Mobile Legends than League Of Legends.

First I did not play Mobile Legends because of the fact that I was hacked and I can not change my name. My name in Mobile Legends is currently “I AM LUXY!!” and as I researched the name it is named after a famous ESports player from Indonesia. Well he picked a wrong account.

I was able to retrieve my account through the help of customer service of Moonton. The customer service agent is very patient with me and just asked for a few documents to prove that I am indeed the true owner. Actually they released my account from the IP block of removing the Google Play account that was on my account. The hacker binds his Google Play account to my Mobile Legends Account, the game detected that I have a different IP address than the usual IP address that was used most recently. Finally I got my account back but not my preferred name. All of my friends were Indonesian when my account was back so I unfollow them all and retain the ones that were really my friends in the Philippines.

I do not know how the hacker got into my account but here are some things you can do to protect your account.

  1. Bind your email to your Moonton Account - the hacker binds himself to the Google Play Account but the hacker was not able to unbind my Moonton Account. I was able to access the account because of this and was able to retrieve it through this account as well.

  2. Keep your Moonton receipts available - If ever you bought diamonds, always keep the receipts. This is the only proof that they were able to verify my account.

  3. Enable Secondary Authentication and New Device Authentication - If ever a hacker will try to hack your account again, you will know.

I really do not know nor care on investigating it further but these simple steps will help you prevent further infiltration on your account. This is a concern for those players that upgrade their phone or uninstall the game for quite some time already.

The experience did not prevent us from disliking the game or being negative towards the game. It is still our responsibility to protect our respective accounts.
