Crash Bandicoot: The Old, The New And Anything In Between

Before a movie became a game or a book became a movie then became a game and was released only for console. Later on, when it is released to a Sony Playstation, it will be also released in XBox and PC. Now a game made only for mobile then it will be released on a PC and console. The gaming industry is evolving and adapting to where the gamers are. Now that more and more people are going mobile, PC Games and Console games are now switching or making games for another platform. Now the playing ground for game developers has widened and more games are adopting to where most of the people are. Another game has been made for mobile. I am not sure if having a mobile game is the end goal of all games, but another famous franchise went to mobile platforms.

Crash Bandicoot is in mobile and being managed by King. King are famous for their games like Candy Crush and Bubble Witch. Now that Crash is with King, our favorite marsupial is the hottest mobile game in town with 800,000 plus downloads in the Google Play Store.

If you still don’t know Crash Bandicoot, it is a platform game made by Naughty Dog exclusively made for Sony Playstation. Being a platform game, Crash can run, jump and spin, back then and the objective is to guide Crash from the beginning up to the end of the stage. I played Crash Bandicoot and it is very popular among kids. Already grown up back then, I played Crash Bandicoot just for fun with my younger cousins. It was an enjoyable game overall but because of its repetitiveness, I got bored at some point.

Now that it came to the mobile arena, will it stand as a platform game? Back in the original Crash Bandicoot, Crash is not just running, he can jump on platforms and he is not always running. Early stages in the old Crash Bandicoot game at some point Crash is running but there are parts of the stage where he actually jumps over the platform, going sideways. In the mobile scene this is somewhat a rip off of some Temple Run game.

The graphics are largely enhanced. The colors are more vibrant and more eye-candy. The graphics are smoother, very fine, and very appealing to kids. There should be more than just fun to stay in the game. I am not sure exactly how game developers expound a running game. To add that, the original was a platform game however the mobile version of it is just a simple running game.

I am really not a fan of repetitive games. I think it will just fry my brain, I think I would choose to stay with a game like Candy Crush, because it lets you think, it gives you the opportunity to strategize. A hand and eye coordination would be the one to use in a game like Crash Bandicoot on mobile however with in terms of strategy, not so much.

Crash Bandicoot would be a good attempt to relive the success of its console cousins on mobile. However there are just games that are like a nuisance to further play on mobile. The console version would have put a high benchmark and the expectation on mobile would be better but ranking the experience, not quite high. I guess I will leave Crash Bandicoot on mobile for those gamers that really dig this kind of game.
