The First Marvel Fighting Game That I Love The Most

Anyone that played this game would agree that we really fell in love at first sight. The roughness of Wolverine here, the voice actor is amazing. The stiffness of Cyclops, you know Cyclops is always about the form and awesomeness. The badass of Colossus here is astonishing and cringing, it's like how you can battle someone that you can not damage, you can’t even scratch. With all the secret Akuma and all, Silver Samurai is really awesome in this game. I really don’t know why Silver Samurai and Colossus were not included in the next Fighting game after this. At least for Colossus he became a back up hero in other fighting games of Marvel.

We are almost at the end of our All Marvel All Month Event and we are looking back to the mother and father of  Marvel Fighting Games. If there is a fighting game before this then that can be the Father but this is the real deal! The mother of all of the fathers! X-Men Children of the Atom!

Why is this the Mother of all The Father because this game runs in the CP System II that Capcom used for Street Fighter! This game was born in Japan 1994 then eventually distributed in North America and Europe.

The game is based obviously from Marvel Comics. In the era we watched X-Men the animated series the voice actors of that series were exactly the voice actors that were in the game. How sick is that?!

The Gameplay

It is your typical fighting game, with the same controls/stroke or combo on how it was done in Street Fighter II. Similar to Ryu’s Haduoken combo, you can do it with Cyclops optic blast or Ice Beam of Iceman, and that will be the Tornado Claw for Wolverine. It is a one on one, best of two match, that you should accomplish before you face Juggernaut and Magneto. The ending will be dependent on the character you choose. Though it is tough to have a combo on the controls we have in this game, it is not impossible. Well it is tough because it seems the control is not that smooth at the CP System, unlike with the other fighting that came after this game, it is much smoother and easier to have combo in mid-air. There is this kind of weight on the characters, they are not agile at that time, now the characters are like a leaf. Even Hulk is not slow at all. Though Colossus is the most agile tanked character that you have that time, he is already agile. The only slow moving player in that game is Juggernaut, but if he caught you, sleep baby babye!

The boss in this game is Magneto that is either up in the air or has a very thick Magnetic Shield. He has this magnetic blaster that really strips down your health if left unguarded.

The Secrets

The only secret I know in this game is that you can use Akuma even though he is not the default playable character. As far as I can remember you will go around the characters and you should end up with Spiral and then the “set of buttons” that if it's wrong you end up choosing Spiral. Spiral will be jumping outside and then Akuma will appear.

My first finish in this game is not Wolverine, though he is easy to use, I was able to finish the game through Iceman. His Ice Blast has 6 hits in one go and the Ice Block is the only way to finish everyone. I am not the person that really does the aerial combo, for me it is all about the wits! It is an absolute fun time where you waste your money for tokens for this game.

This game is so underrated but this is the birth of fighting games like they say, the rest is history.
