Marvel Super War - Is It Still Worth Fighting For?

I played Marvel Super War on its release and I had the worst experience, though it is much expected for a premier of the release, the whole game play is not that “ok” overall. Now that I am revisiting the game in 2022, let’s see if Netease has some improvements.

Marvel Super War is a MOBA game from Netease. Netease is also the developer of another MOBA game, Onmyoji Arena. Netease has a lot of amazing games under their name, I am just not quite sure if Marvel Super War is one of them.

I was really disappointed with Marvel Super War when it first came out. It is just not the feel of a MOBA game that would last. There is a feeling that it is hard to control then there are times that it feels it is going out of control. Totally misaligned to the whole expectation of a Marvel MOBA game.

I understand the lag and the matchmaking, however the skills of the characters it seems it is not that well thought of. Like for example Scarlet Witch, one of the powerful mutants out there, her skills are kind of pathetic to be honest. The damage is pretty decent but on how you would target the enemies it is kind of specific just to execute it properly. Her base defense is also very low, I understand to balance the characters but the defense is too low, compared to how limited the AOE of her damage were. Storm is a much better choice to be honest, and Storm comes to the game for free. Her tornado has stun as well and the lightning skill extends up to the back of the minions. It is not that much damage compared to Wanda’s but the utility of her skills is much easier to execute in a team fight.

The mechanics are the usual MOBA set up. The hero has six slots for items that will help the hero to dominate the fight. There are 9 ranks from Mighty to Supreme Legendary and I am currently in the Gold rank. I only hope that I can manage to progress up to Legendary who knows. There are also skins for a more epic battle experience. Skins can be acquired through chests but for a trial of a few days.

I am giving myself a month to see how far we can go as we go along with the Marvel Month here. We will be reviewing Marvel games old and new all month here.

There are also guild systems that I don’t care much about at the moment. I am doing rank games on a solo queue and my only complaint is that sometimes it takes me 6 minutes to get a match. Is it because no one is playing?

There are also items that can be used to recruit more heroes or acquire their skins. There are Hero clues, the green one, The Skin Shard the violet one, and the Advance Skin Shard the pinkish one. These items are used to obtain skins for your heroes.

The gameplay is like any other MOBA, there is a Nexxus structure on your side of the map and the objective is to go to the other side of the map to destroy the Nexxus on the opposite side. I did not pay attention to the tutorial so I am not sure if they really named it Nexxus.

The map is crazy beautiful! It seems you are in Wakanda. There is this panther logo in the middle of the map and 2 panther statues just right on the exit of your side of the map.

Marvel Super War is more decent now than it was first launched. There is this always quirky feeling that the movement really does not sync (or it was just me), but you will not notice it when you are in battle. Besides the skill animation choices, you will get a hang of it once you get the purpose of it in the team. Overall Marvel Super War evolved to be a full blown MOBA in a good way. There can be improved movement to have a smooth battle animation but it is there, developers just need to figure it out. There is a steep competition in the MOBA category. It would be better to see the improvement anytime from now.
