The Infamous Review of The Infamous Baby Brother of All Marvel vs. Capcom Series

Marvel has been successful in the Fighting category of their numerous fighting game franchises. There is this in the vast universe of Marvel franchise in the deepest part of Marvel’s fighting game franchise sits the title Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. Yes, there is this version of the Marvel vs. Capcom series that did not make it that much.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, where you can see Ultron Sigma sitting on a shiny throne ang singing Kumbaya! I am very specific with this fighting game because I played a lot of them. I really express deep disappointment in this fighting game that almost everyone weighs like Hulk, it is like a Children of the Atom all over again.

I can put 3 stars on the storyline, for me it is very interesting and engaging. The concept of all worlds coming together and saving it, is still the best way to put all of these characters in. It is also the same reason why I did not put it and push it to 4 stars, there is no gravity to the concept already. Though we are talking about different characters from different games, not just other versions of the Marvel heroes, the creativity is there I guess it just did not meet the expectation. Though I am not that critical with the main storyline at the end of the day it is not the main purpose of the game. Thank you for the effort.

Usually the stories of fighting games are presented individually. If you finish a character it is usually the last hit that will get the ending. In Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite has a main storyline which is kind of the downfall of it as well mainly on the format on how you will finish it.

The graphics are not bad but they basically lack details. Compared to the illustration of the characters of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite’s predecessor graphics, it really fits its purpose not to ruin the gameplay of the game. In Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite’s effort to put 3D characters this time ruins the whole team since the graphics were really not done properly. The graphics omit the very concept of visual display. Leaving the players hanging up in the air for the moment and not reaching the summit of gameplay nirvana.

As a player I would understand the comparison of graphics since the first PlayStation was released, but Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is released under PS4 already. If the aim of this game is to have a 3D Marvel fighting game they could have pushed further to have better graphics to have a supreme gameplay. It can’t be avoided to compare its graphics to the latest version of Tekken. Tekken took over this game a mile away in terms of graphics, that only revolve in martial arts moves, than the characters that originated with magic and cosmic energies which could have been more effective with better graphics. Don’t you think Captain America and Doctor Strange gained a lot of weight?

This game failed to deliver to its gamers the graphics that would give the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise a brand new gaming experience. I would rather play Skullgirls for that sentiment.

In the character department, why is Dr. Doom missing? Why is Lockheed on the roster? Anyways, this red gargoyle annoys me. Though he is not a pathetic character in the game it would be good if Dr. Doom or the Fantastic Four is in the game. For the Capcom characters it is well thought of, the Marvel ones, not quite. Nova can be a very good choice, but Gamora?, and Rocket Raccoon? They could have used Star Lord and Drax or my initial choice, Dr. Doom or maybe there are a lot of Doctors already in the game.

The game failed in a lot of departments. The overall playing style is still amazing. The air combos are smooth as silk. The game is relatively fun to play which is also the main point why you play a game. Though the gap on the graphics are things you can not easily ignore, it still excites me the weight on how the attacks land on your foe. The sound adds the hype on the overall gameplay, if Tekken would invest on the sound as you punch, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinity does it better.

The overall rating would be 3 stars for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinity, there are gaps on the graphics and on the creatives of its writers, the concept of the emerging universes is still an interesting theme overall. It gives the gamers an idea on how the Marvel vs. Capcom franchises would be in the future.
