A Low Flight And A Dark Future For This Marvel MMORPG

Have you played the MMORPG of Marvel? The Marvel Future Revolution? I am not sure if this is being monitored by Netmarble Monster, but how was it? Probably it came out in the wrong timing where Genshin Impact came out first? Or is it a bad decision to create something like Marvel Future Revolution. Let’s get into details.

What Is An Open World Game?

An Open World is basically a mechanic for games where the player can freely explore or move around areas of the game freely. Where you can interact with houses you can jump over roofs or climb a cliff in any approach that is possible.Unlike to other fixed mechanic games, there are only certain areas or things that you can interact with. If you are in a quest you can freely roam around to complete your mission, while on some RPGs if you are in a Subway or in a city you can not go around it and try different ways to approach your quest.

Marvel Future Revolution is categorized as an Open World RPG game however I did not quite feel that way. It is still on the mainstream RPG where you have a path to follow on how you will approach an area. Unlike if you already played Genshin Impact you can go outside Monstadt by jumping around the castle walls or gliding from the highest part of Monstadt. In Marvel Future Revolution similar to mainstream RPG you can tap your quest to go on the area automatically. In Genshin Impact there is a guide to your quest however it only works inside a city but still you can freely go to your destination via gliding, swimming, climbing over fences or just follow the glitter guide to go to the quest area.

I am not sure if it's really an open world or it's just I am still in the early parts of the game? Though my problem is that Star-Lord does not climb. Actually I tried approaching certain walls in the city but I could not interact with it. I am really not sure if this should be considered as an Open World game as there are certain parts of the game that do not feel that it is an Open World. You can fly however you can not go outside without using the Quinjet that will sent you to the area where the quest is.

While I am writing this review I can not move to my next topic without saying that the graphics are good, but very crude! There are some parts that are ok but there are parts that just do not jive with the others. Seeing it is just giving me headaches, it is either too shiny and glossy or it is too crude. There is this guy and Hank Pym that really look alike. It is too soon that it was revealed that they have this face template. The graphics are really crude and rough. It seems like everyone has facial hair or there is some smudge of oil on their faces. The cut scenes are great. I can not contest that the cut scenes are great, however you are not always on cut scenes, you need to control the character that you build however it is crude. Some graphics are also missing a lot of details that make some of the graphics not synced with the environment. The markers and notification are a bit off, there is really something with the menus, graphics and environment doesn’t jive to consider it that it is an enjoyable game. Games like these should be visually balanced. Since Marvel characters have been always synchronized and harmoniously worked together to save the World, the World should jive with the characters as well.

The controls are not that manageable. There is not enough freedom with the controls. The controllability itself has something to improve. The dash instead of one straight dash movement, it is like a swirly movement that in the end the dash is not helpful at all. It is also hard to fly around. The flying mechanisms of the game do not fly as high, you want to explore the city but you end up disappointing yourself because you do not fly high enough.

To be straight about it, the game is messy though it can be improved, however,  I am not sure how big Netmarble would dedicate developers and marketing on this game. It is a mess!

I really love the effort and the idea, but I guess Marvel Future Revolution will be short lived and you would rather be playing Marvel Future Fight than this game. It fails to achieve the enjoyment and engagement for the whole gaming experience. It is hard not to compare it with Genshin Impact but Genshin is simple in terms of mechanics of playing and very straightforward. The riddles and puzzles are the ones that I truly enjoy, however this game has none. It is hard to see that there is a potential in this game however, because of some details that a Marvel fan would expect, the game plummet to a 3 star of rating. I really did not enjoy playing and after playing it is not something I craved for. It did not register that “I have a quest to complete I will play”, it is not like that. The game should have captured the attention of the player in the first weeks of the game, however I did not feel that I should play it again.
