Doom Or Deadpool: The Poll For Marvel "Jesus" Is Open

With the announcement of Robert Downey Jr. doing another role in Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it is really interesting to see him again in the MCU, is it really him or is RDJ, as iron-man is still the one we want to see?

The unmasking of Doctor Doom in Hall H is really the highlight of that day when Robert Downey Jr was behind the mask. I was really excited that day that RDJ will be back and not as hero this time, but as the big bad of MCU in the next couple of years. I have a version of this post that is really optimist of what will be happening and wondering how Marvel would mold the Cinematic Universe this time. Reading that unpublished post and watching Deadpool and Wolverine I was  more optimistic now with the development of X-Men and mutants in that regard.

The bold statement of Ryan Reynolds as “Marvel Jesus” really moved me from my seat. Thinking that who the hell are you saying that knowing that RDJ will be back. Given that with another Deadpool movie, executed correctly, Ryan Reynolds can indeed be that “Messiah” that we are waiting for in the MCU.

I am thinking this, so that Thor can be back being God and Star-Lord going back to being thinking human in space! Leave all the comic antics to Deadpool!

Deadpool loves to mess up all of the storylines anyway. Let’s leave that humor to Deadpool and let’s make the subtle punchlines to the rest. Anthony Mackie can hit some jokes in his new movie or some punchlines to Daredevil or Punisher. Let’s leave Thor alone please, he is God, he is supposed to be a bit innocent and stiff. I grew up with Star-Lord as a logical person, though he can be really useless at some point, but to the extent that he became slapstick is really exaggerated.

We are all hearing that some directors have no actual creative freedom on the films that they create with Marvel Studios, whoever is making the decision with Thor and Star-Lord is really not thinking straight. MCU Fans are screaming already for the God Thor but what did you do with Thor: Love and Thunder? At least the last Guardians of The Galaxy has some human connection there, I still think we need another Guardians of The Galaxy to redeem Star-Lord somewhere we lost him.

RDJ may be considered the best guy ever to play a part in the MCU. MCU really anchored itself to the character that RDJ played, but things are different now. MCU really dragged the timeline too long and fans are already fed up.

RDJ alone can’t tilt the situation around, a comic book consistency can go a long way while waiting for the characters to build up. I have no idea why it became a catastrophic situation after Endgame. I am fine with the series, it was really good, but for the movies not so much. Eternals was really a joke to bring up at that time.

If they pivot the storyline from Spiderman to the Defenders, since Shang-chi is already in the picture, it could have been a better build up that would make Kingpin to be considered as mini-boss, then the real Mandarin and then Doom.

Even if it looks like it's a last minute decision about Doom just to give fans something, it would still be a very good line up connecting Kingpin, Mandarin and Doom.

I can not stress it more, fans need consistency with the storyline and faithfulness with the characters. No matter how they twist the plots vs. to the comics, at least give the characters justice according to what is in the comics.
